Commitment
Our goal is to train and educate highly qualified mainframe specialists. The next generation of specialists, which is so urgently needed, is particularly close to our hearts. We are therefore deliberately building contacts with young talents who are interested in working in the mainframe environment. To achieve this, we need to raise the awareness of the relevance of mainframes for the economy universities and other academic institutions.
Universities and Colleges
Leipzig and Tübingen Universities
The collaboration with the Universities of Leipzig and Tübingen began in 2002 through the commitment of Prof. Wilhelm Spruth and Wolfram Greis within the framework of training activities at the IT Academy Bavaria in Augsburg.
Our trainings are run on mainframe machines - instead of simulators. They are located at Tübingen and Leipzig. Since 2023, we also use a a z14 machine for our trainings, which was dedicated to the University of Leipzig by Beta Systems.
Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts
EMA has also been involved in Switzerland for many years, supporting Professor Andreas Kurmann, who offers his computer science students an annual lecture series on "Mainframe Topics".
Other Universities and Colleges
In recent years, Wolfram Greis has given mainframe lectures at the following universities and colleges:
University of Kaiserslautern
University of Applied Sciences Coburg
Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg
University of Würzburg
Memberships
Academic Mainframe Consortium
Together with Professor Bogdan, Wolfram Greis was the driving force behind the creation of the Academic Mainframe Consortium, which was established as a non-profit organization in 2017 together with other colleagues from industry and academia. Together with IBM and other manufacturers and mainframe users, a modern infrastructure for training purposes could thus be established.
Central Europe Computer Measurement Group
Wolfram Greis has been a member of this manufacturer-independent organization since its founding year 1988 and was the spokesperson of the association's board from 2000 to 2020. (https://cecmg.de)
